Second Round Change in Order Made To SVC Boys Basketball

.

If you have looked ahead on the schedule of Scioto Valley Conference boys basketball games, you will see there is a slight change in the order of second round games compared to the first round. Ordinarily, the conference schedule has always followed the same order as the first round, unless a game had to be rescheduled due to weather.

.

This season's change applies to Saturday, January 18th- where what was Game #4 of Round One, becomes Game #2 of Round Two.

SVC Secretary Dave Warne confirms that one reason for the change was to afford member schools the option of playing the "Super Saturday" format- if they wanted.

.

The mandatory practice of schools matching up for Super Saturday with the same team in each round, was done away with this season, unless schools wanted to continue the practice. In order to do that, it required the second round order be shuffled for January 18th.

.

The most notable match-up this will impact is Unioto at Zane Trace, which have been two of the top three boys teams in the SVC standings in Round One.

.

There are only two SVC schools that opted to keep the Super Saturday format this season, and that is Paint Valley vs Huntington.
