Piketon Teen Dies in Overnight Crash on SR 220

One person died and another was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Pike County. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Zachary Howard, 18, of Piketon, was driving through a curve along State Route 220 at 2:39 a.m., Saturday, when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail.

Authorities said Howard was pronounced dead at the scene, while the front-seat passenger, Andrew Mayton, 20, of Waverly, was taken to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the crash remains under investigation, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
