Piketon Rains 3's To Beat Huntington

The Piketon Redstreaks used their length and three-point bombers to overpower Huntington in their 57-34 win, Friday.

The Redstreaks blasted out of the gate with a rain of three-point goals to grab early leads of 9-0 and 13-2, before the Huntsmen cut the margin to 18-13 early in the second quarter. Piketon opened the floodgates to go up 34-17 at halftime and were up 50-27 after three.

Piketon shot 10/22 from the three-point arc for a sizzling 45%, and were 22/43 from the field for 47%. They added 3/6 at the foul line.

Huntington shot only 12/32 from the field for 38%- including 4/15 from the arc and 6/7 from the foul line. Piketon controlled the rebounds 24-14 and committed 13 turnovers to Huntington's 18.

Piketon was led by Tyree Harris and Brody Fuller with 12 points each, followed by Levi Gullion and Shane Leedy with 9 each. All of Harris' points came on four treys.

Huntington was led by Seth Beeler's 12 points, while Caleb Smith and Seth McCloskey added 8 and 7 respectively.

Piketon improved to (4-3/7-7) and showed why many SVC coaches feel the Redstreaks could create some problems for the conference leaders in round two.

Huntington drops to (1-6/2-8).
