The Ross County NAACP will start off the weekend on Sunday, January 19th with their Jubilee Day Celebration. Jubilee Day celebrates the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln. It will be held at Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray will be our speaker and the celebration will begin at 3:30pm.

The theme for this event is "United for a Purpose" meaning that the only way we as people (all people not just African-Americans) can come together is if we put our differences aside and work together as a Community. The Community being the people, politicians, school systems, churches and businesses in this community supporting one another with a common purpose to build a great community. This is a free event and everyone is encouraged to come.

The following day, Monday, January 20th, WIN (Women in the NAACP, with community sponsors will have the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast at the Chillicothe High School at 9:30am.

This year they will have two speakers instead of a panel discussion and the them is "2020 A New Vision" The Speakers will be Attorney Letitia Quinones of Houston, Texas. She is an accomplished Criminal Defense Attorney who specializes in complex criminal litigation & also Pastor Brian Hamilton of Transformed Life Church located in Piqua, Ohio. He is a Community Advocate, Volunteer Chaplin with the Piqua Police Department, and founder of Wood Street Community Development Corporation.
