Zane Trace Controls "Glass" to Create SVC Tie with Unioto

Zane Trace avenged their lone SVC loss at Unioto, to create a first place tie for the SVC boys basketball lead, beating the Shermans 51-37, Saturday.

The Pioneers dominated the rebounding stat with a 33-14 edge, including 17 offensive rebounds for the game.

.

The Shermans darted to an early 17-9 lead early in the second quarter, after they held a slim 10-7 after the first period. Zane Trace fought back to within 22-20 at halftime. Both teams see-sawed back and forth throughout the third period, before Luke Johnson of ZT hit a clutch three-point shot to end the third quarter for a 33-31 Pioneers lead.

ZT used that momentum lift to outscore Unioto 18-6 in the final quarter.

The Pioneers were led by Cameron Evans' 26 points followed by Nick Nesser's 11 points. Colby Swain added 11

Unioto was led by Isaac Little's 9 points with Cameron Debord and Josh Lambert each adding 7.

Zane Trace shot 17/44 from the floor for only 39%- including 1/8 from the arc, but made up the difference on the charity stripe with 18/23.

Unioto shot 12/29 for 41% and were 1/7 from the arc. They added 12/18 from the foul line.

Both teams committed only 7 turnovers each.

Zane Trace and Unioto are now tied for the SVC lead at (8-1) with Adena (7-2) after the Warriors 59-41 win over (4-4) Piketon.
