Chillicothe Man Charged with Felony After Fleeing State Trooper

A Chillicothe man has been charged with felony fleeing as the result of a brief vehicle pursuit with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A Trooper assigned to the Chillicothe Post attempted to stop a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker on Trego Creek Road in Ross County at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 23rd for an equipment violation.

The driver, William Diltz, 46, of Chillicothe, failed to yield to the Troopers’ lights and siren and a short vehicle pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour.

The approximately three minute vehicle pursuit ended when Mr. Diltz drove onto a private drive along US 23 south of Rozelle Creek Road and fled on foot into the woods.

Mr. Diltz was taken into custody walking along Mt. Tabor Road a short time later and incarcerated at the Ross County Jail on one count of felony fleeing. The two female occupants in the vehicle were not charged in this incident and no injuries were reported.
