Three children are safe after their grandfather was able to help them escape from a house fire in Pike County as multiple fire departments from Pike and Ross Counties teams together Tuesday evening to battle a large structure fire in the 1300 block of State Route 220, in Pike County.

The Pike County Sheriff says the fire broke out at a residence near State Route 220 around 5pm. Officials say the man was working in his garage when he saw the flames and then rushed into the home to help safely lead three children outside. No injuries were reported, and a fire marshal will be on scene today to begin an investigation.
