Troopers Seize $50,000 Worth of Cocaine in Scioto County

A Columbus woman is facing felony drug charges as the result of a traffic stop in Scioto County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers stopped a 2019 Dodge Journey traveling along U.S. 23 in Scioto County shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21st for a following too close violation.

While interacting with the driver, Latisha Moore, 34, of Columbus, troopers detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 500 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of around $50,000. A small amount of marijuana was also found in Ms. Moore’s purse.

Ms. Moore was then transported to the Scioto County Jail, charged with two first-degree felony counts of possession of cocaine and trafficking in drugs. If convicted she could receive a sentence of up to 22 years in prison, in addition to a $40,000 fine.
