Ross, Chillicothe Law Enforcement Implement Minor Crime Phone Reporting

Chillicothe Police and The Ross County Sheriff have implemented a telephone crime reporting process. It's in an effort to keep its officers safe and healthy and out on patrol.

The temporary phone reporting policy is for mostly so-called minor and non-emergency crimes such as misdemeanor theft and criminal mischief cases with no suspect, mainly any type of low-level crime report that doesn’t require an officer to be present at the scene. The departments asks that if you do require an officer present at the scene to please make an attempt to meet the officer outside.

Ross County Sheriff George Lavender last week also advised 911 callers to advise dispatchers of their current health status to keep responders safe and to allow them to provide the best service possible.
