Second-half real estate tax payments for Ross County are due Friday, July 10th.
With the due date quickly approaching, County Treasurer Steve Neal, Jr. is reminding taxpayers that missing the deadline will mean paying more. Ohio law requires the treasurer to charge a 10% penalty on all payments received after the due date except for payments that are postmarked by the due date. In an effort to keep the community and staff safe and healthy, it is recommended that taxpayers make arrangements to pay in an alternative way to coming into the Courthouse. There are many other options to pay which can be found on the blue insert included with your tax bill or on the website www.rosscountyohio.gov/treasurer. There is a night drop box available at the office as well as a drive up drop box located in the service center parking lot, 475 Western Ave. All payments deposited before midnight on the due date will be considered timely. E-check or credit card payments made through the treasurer’s website before midnight will also be on time.
If a tax payer has no other option but to visit the office, please adhere to the social distancing guidelines and follow the signs and markings in the office. Also please use the hand sanitizer that is available upon walking in and the Treasurer’s office will make facemasks available if needed.
Taxpayers are asked to contact the treasurer’s office if they have changed their mailing address or have not yet received their bill. Taxpayers who receive a separate manufactured home statement have until July 31ST to complete those payments.
If a tax payer would have difficulty making those payments by July 10th due to hardships caused by the COVID-19 epidemic please contact the Treasurer’s office. There are options to help those tax payers avoid penalties and interest. This is an unprecedented time and the Ross County Treasurer’s office is dedicated to help tax payers through these tough times
The treasurer’s office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays. The office will also be open until 6:00 p.m. the final week of the real estate tax collection which starts July 6th and ends July 10th. The treasurer’s office is located in the Ross County Courthouse.
