Two Motorcycle Riders Killed in Separate Area Crashes

Two separate fatal motorcycle crashes occurred yesterday in the region, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A Lancaster man was killed Wednesday afternoon after his motorcycle crossed the center divide of State Route 93 in Jackson County and collided with an oncoming semi. 54-year-old Kirk Willis was riding northwest on Route 93 near Jolly Lane in the City of Wellston shortly after 2pm, when his bike overturned, traveled over the center divide and collided with the oncoming rig. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol is also investigating a fatal motorcycle crash which occurred in Ross County on Vigo Road at approximately 8:51pm Wednesday night. A motorcycle, operated by 34-year-old Jonathan A. Weaver of Chillicothe, was traveling northbound on Vigo Road when it crossed the centerline, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and struck a utility pole. Weaver was transported from the scene to Adena Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
