Prospect League Adds Johnstown, Pa. For 2021

The Prospect League is announcing the addition of Johnstown, Pennsylvania as an expansion franchise, which will begin play in the 2021 season at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to work with the City of Johnstown officials in getting to this point," stated Prospect League Commissioner Dennis Bastien, "In my 40-plus years in baseball, never have I been treated with such respect, hospitality, cooperativeness and a willingness to bring a team to a city as I have here. This is a testimony to the hard work of their staff and the realization of what a Prospect League franchise can mean to a community – a gathering place for years to come and a central and integral stimulus for area pride.”

"The City of Johnstown is excited to welcome the Prospect League to the City,” John Dubansky, City of Johnstown Community and Economic Development Director, proudly added. “Johnstown's rich baseball history, combined with the Prospect League's rich baseball history, experience and national recognition, will be a great partnership in our community. We look forward to a bright future with the Prospect League!"

Johnstown becomes the 14th member of the Prospect League, joining the Alton (Illinois) River Dragons as an expansion member for the upcoming season.

The Johnstown Franchise will be owned and operated by Johnstown Family Entertainment, with the principals being National Sports Services (nsssports.com). NSS has more than 70 years of experience in the ownership and operation of minor league (A, AA, AAA) and summer collegiate league baseball teams as well as minor league hockey (AHL,EHL) teams. "We look forward to bringing an exceptional family experience to the Greater Johnstown Region," stated Bill Davidson, President of Johnstown Family Entertainment. "Our goal is to put on such a good show that folks may almost forget they are watching some of the best college players in the country on the field."
