After an opening game scoring drive gave Unioto a 6-0 lead, Adena scored five unanswered touchdowns to stay unbeaten with a 34-6 win over the Shermans, Friday.
The Tanks marched 68 yards in 6 plays to open the game, scoring their lone TD on a 34 yard pass from Isaac Little to Carson Debord. The PAT kick hit the left upright, leaving the score 6-0.
Adena then scored on their first two possessions to grab a 14-6 lead. The Warriors marched 61 yards in 6 plays, scoring on a Preston Sykes 35 yard run, followed by a 2 point conversion pass from Sykes to Logan Bennett for a 8-6 lead with 6:51 left in the opening quarter.
On their next possession, Adena went 62 yards in 8 plays, capped off by a Sykes 4 yard run, but the two-point conversion try failed for a 14-6 lead, which held up through halftime.
The Warriors took the second half opening drive 65 yards in 7 plays, finishing off with a 1 yard Sykes keeper at 8:43 left in the period. The PAT failed for a 20-6 lead.
That score held until the fourth quarter, when Adena's Nate Throckmorton took a fake punt run 48 yards deep into Unioto territory, then saw him score on a 17 yard run. Sykes again connected with Bennett on a PAT pass for a 28-6 lead with 11:55 left in the game.
Adena picked-off a Unioto pass with a little over the midway point of the final quarter, then marched 87 yards in 5 plays as Isaac Gray scored on a 13 yard run for the final score of 34-6.
Throckmorton ran 19 times for 214 yards and a TD. Sykes scored three times, running for 83 yards.
Isaac Little threw 13/27 for 160 yards and a TD, with Carson Debord having a nice game on receptions.
The Warriors piled-up 455 total yards with 364 on the ground. Unioto was held by Adena's physical defense to only 36 rushing yards.
Adena had 12 first downs in the game to 7 for Unioto. The Tanks committed 3 turnovers. Adena, who committed 110 yards in penalties in week one, cleaned up that part of their game with only 50 yards in yellow flags.
The two-shade-blue improves to (2-0) and Unioto falls to (1-1). Adena hosts Westfall next Friday on the Herrnstein Hyundai SVC Game Of The Week on WKKJ. The Mustangs also improve to (2-0) with a 36-21 win over Zane Trace.
