The annual Larry Cox Turkey Trot fundraiser in Chillicothe is being cancelled for this year. The event honors the former Chillicothe police officer who was shot and killed in April of 2005 while aiding in a pursuit of a robbery suspect. He was off-duty at the time.
The Turkey Trot raises money for the rewards that are paid out by Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers when crimes are solved with the help of community tips. It is the organization’s only fundraiser of the year.
Though the Turkey Trot is being called off for this year, donations to Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers are still be accepted. If you’d like to give they’ll be accepting PayPal payment via Facebook through the end of this month. You can also donate by simply contacting Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers.
