Wilkin Spearheads Bill To Protect Business From State Shutdowns

State Representative Shane Wilkin and his co-author, State Representative Jon Cross have scored a victory for non-essential businesses.

The Ohio House of Representatives on Wednesday passed the Business Fairness Act, legislation that allows any business that can comply with safety standards from government orders or regulations, to stay open in the happenstance of a statewide shutdown.

The bill, HB 621, had received support from the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Ohio Council of Retail Merchants and the Ohio Small Business Council. The measure passed with a vote of 75-11. It now heads to the Senate for consideration.
