Avoiding Stress at the Thanksgiving Table

The events of 2020 are certainly fodder for heated arguments at the Thanksgiving table this year, whether families meet in person or online.

Dr. Andrea Taylor with U-T Health says if things get too stressful, discretely leave the room for a few minutes, saying you need to take care of something. But no one needs to know the thing you are taking care of is yourself.

Etiquette expert Lizzie Post recommends setting some ground rules about forbidden topics of conversation. Barring that, conversations can be defused by not trying to change anyone's mind about controversial topics.
