State Coach of the Year John Penwell Steps Down From Adena Football Post

Adena Head Football Coach John Penwell says he is resigning as head coach, to spend time with his family.

Penwell had a (30-23) record in five seasons with the Warriors, but 2020 was certainly one for the books.

Despite almost not having a season to play, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Warriors had an unbeaten regular season, SVC championship, the schools first playoff wins (3) and a Sweet 16 berth. They concluded with (9-1) record.

Post-season honors rolled in for the team and for John Penwell being named SVC, District and Ohio Division 6 Co-Coach of the Year by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
