Adena & Unioto Head to Holidays Sharing SVC Lead

SVC boys conference basketball action concluded for calendar year 2020 Saturday with Adena and Unioto tied at the top with (4-0) records.

The Warriors handled Piketon in Frankfort to the tune of 46-26 while Unioto took down Zane Trace 50-40, handing the Pioneers their first SVC loss of the season.

Adena travels to Unioto to restart conference play on Saturday, January 2nd in what will be a battle of SVC co-leaders on 94 Country WKKJ.

In the Warriors win, they led at every stop in a game that never saw them in any real trouble. Adena led 11-2 after the first quarter, 23-11 at half, 34-23 after three, then the 46-26 final.

Logan Bennett carried the Warriors offensive effort in the first half, scoring 19 of his game-high 26 points. At the end, he also had 10 rebounds for a double-double. Preston Sykes added 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Jarrett Garrison contributed points and five boards and 3 points came from Dillon McDonald.

Piketon was unable to get anyone in double figures with Chris Chandler scoring 9 points, followed by Tra Swayne with 7 and Levi Gullion with 4. Four other Redstreaks combined for 5 points.

While the Warriors shot 21/41 from the field for 51%- including 3/12 from the arc and 1/2 at the foul line, Piketon could only muster 10/33 from the field for 30% and a "chilly" 1/17 from the arc and 5/12 from the charity stripe.

Adena won the rebounding battle 24-18. Piketon had 10 turnovers and Adena 9.

The Warriors improve to (4-0/7-1) as Piketon falls to (1-2/3-3).
