A Vinton County man has been arrested on abduction charges after witnesses said they saw him forcing a woman into a vehicle.
22-year-old Cameron Williams of Wellston was charged with abduction, assault and domestic violence.
Vinton County Sheriff deputies received a report from a resident on State Route 683 that they could hear a female yelling and allegedly saw a man throw a woman into a car and drive south. Another witness spotted the vehicle, which appeared to have been wrecked, on State Route 683 and allegedly saw Williams trying to force the woman back into the vehicle When the witness tried to intervene they said Williams drove off.
The witness followed the vehicle, which crashed again near Shiloh Grove Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The woman was then able to escape and get into the witness’ vehicle.
Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and arrest Williams.
