Tigers Top Panthers in FAC Showdown

The Miami Trace Panthers fought hard Friday night despite only having one practice in two weeks but fell to the McClain Tigers in a low scoring contest 38-32.

Neither team shot the ball well as both teams leading scorers were out and it stayed close through most of the game. The Panthers held on to a two point lead going into the half 16-14. McClain was 5-21 for 24% and Trace was 6-22 for 27%.

Shooting wise it didn’t get much better the rest of the way. At the 3:50 mark the Tigers tied the game at 16 and after each team traded buckets it was 20-20 with 1:39 to go in the third quarter. From that point until 2:44 to go in the game the Tigers outscored Miami Trace 12-0 to go up 32-20. From there clawed their way back in the game and were able to cut the lead to 5 but timely free throw shooting by the Tigers prevailed them to victory. 

The Tigers ended the night being led in scoring by Braden Wright and Camden Closson with 10 a piece. They shot 29%on 12-42 shooting and were 4-16 from beyond the arc for 25%. They did make 10-18 free throws and only committed 8 turnovers. The win moves McClain to 10-4 (3-2)

Miami Trace was led in scoring by Braden Osborne’s 10 points. They shot 27% on 11-41 shooting including going 5-23 from deep. They made 5-7 free throws and only committed 11 turnovers. The Panthers fall to 2-6 (0-4).
