ODNR Officer Dies Rescuing Girl From Icy Pond at Rocky Fork State Park

(Columbus, OH) -- Governor Mike DeWine is ordering flags around the state flown at half-staff to honor a Highland County Ohio Department of Natural Resources Officer.

The Wednesday order is in honor of Officer Jason Lagore, who died after attempting to rescue a 16-year-old girl from freezing water at Rocky Fork State Park. The girl also died, and a 13-year-old boy who was with her is in the hospital recovering from exposure.

Lagore was a 15-year veteran of the ODNR and led the Division of Parks and Watercraft's K-9 program.
