Ross Grand Jury: Assault with Bone, Another City Vehicle Driven Off

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 11 of their cases Friday, with seven open.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, Sheriff's deputies were called to the grounds of the VA Medical Center January 24th to assist with an assault.

34-year-old Anthony W. Pagani had bruised and bloody knuckles, and admitted he was very intoxicated and had been in a fight. The victim stated Pagani tried to stab him with a piece of a bone and a large object, and had a gash on his forehead.

Pagani also shattered the driver's-side window of a cuiser by smashing his head into it.

For indictments on felonious assault and vandalism, he could get up to nine years and $17,500 in fines.

In another case of a city vehicle being driven off, on February 5th, a Chillicothe Municipal Court Probation Officer left his city car running and unlocked in the alley when he went into the Law Enforcement Complex. He found it missing when he came out.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, 51-year-old James C. Brewer had been released from the jail at that time. Video surveillance showed him walk over and jump into the car.

Little less than three hours later, the Pike County Sheriff's office recovered the car on Spunk Run Road about 100 feet from Brewer's residence. He said he needed it to get home.

For indictments on receiving stolen property, he could get up to 18 months and $5,000 in fines.
