Searchers will resume looking for a missing kayaker today on Paint Creek near Bainbridge. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reported the missing boater around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities did not release the identity, but the Scioto Post reports dispatch said a man fell overboard fully clothed in jeans and a sweatshirt and attempted to swim to shore. According to a witness he was doing fine but then disappeared.
A water rescue team headed to US 50 and Rapid Forge Road and closed the road, but dive teams declined to go into the water because of water conditions, and crews suspended the search until morning.
Water temperatures remain too cold for long-term swimming at this time and hypothermia can set in quickly.
