Former Pike County Sheriff Sentenced to Three Years

Former Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader is heading to prison after being sentenced yesterday on theft charges. Judge Patricia Cosgrove sentenced Reader to a minimum of three years behind bars on counts of theft in office and tampering with evidence.

Judge Cosgrove commented on the sentence saying Reader's crime deserved punishment because he tarnished the name of law enforcement.

Reader had pled guilty to stealing money from drug busts but denied allegations he used the money to fund a gambling addiction and said it paid for services, including a monument to a deceased teenager.
