US 50 in Paint Valley Closed After One Died in Three-Vehicle Crash

One man died in a three-vehicle crash on US 50 in Ross County Sunday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol reports at about 5pm, 58-year-old Leland Brown of Chillicothe was eastbound in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Between Jones Levee and California Hollow, he went left of center and struck a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 26-year-old David Matthews of Bainbridge. Brown’s vehicle then struck a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 55-year-old Earl Dennewitz of Bainbridge.

Brown succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Others in the crash, all from Bainbridge, were transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries: Matthews and passenger 36-year-old Sarah Matthews and four juveniles, and Dennewitz and his passengers, 49-year-old Patricia Dennewitz, 20-year-old Callie Dennewitz, and 57-year-old Mona Roberts.

The road was closed for for almost three hours and the crash remains under investigation.
