Escaped Ross Jail Inmate Back in Custody

A Ross County Jail inmate who walked away from his work detail has been placed back into custody.

According to the Ross County Sheriff's Office, James E. Umphries II was recently taken into custody at a residence on Stone Road as the result of an anonymous tip.

Mr. Umphries had been in jail on a misdemeanor charge when he walked away from his work detail shortly after 2:00 p.m, on Friday, April 2nd.
