Special election date set

Voters in the state's 15th Congressional District will pick a replacement for departing Rep. Steve Stivers on Nov. 2. Governor Mike DeWine Monday set a special election primary date, Aug. 3, and a general election date, Nov. 2, for the 15th District race. Voters must be registered by July 6 to vote in the primary and Oct. 4 to vote in the general election. Stivers announced last week that he would leave Congress to lead the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. A number of Republicans and Democrats have already expressed interest in the seat. Both Sen. Bob Peterson, R-Sabina, and Rep. Brian Stewart, R-Ashville, have launched bids in the past week. The 15th District includes southern portions of Columbus and extends southeast to Athens and west to London and Wilmington.
