15th District seat race heats up

One candidate has withdrawn from the campaign, while another has received a big endorsement, as we get closer to the August 3rd special election tofill the vacated 15th District Congressional seat. Ashville Republican State Representative Bob Stewart announced he is suspending his campaign to replace Steve Stivers. Stewart, through a news release, cited a lack of financial resources needed to continue. Meantime on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump endorsed Mike Carey for the seat. Carey, vice president of government affairs at coal mining company American Consolidated Natural Resources, is running against 10 other Republicans for the seat. The primary is set for Aug. 3, and the general election will be held Nov. 2. The 15th District includes parts of Ross, Fayette, and Pickaway Counties.
