The Ross County Grand Jury convened in regular session last Friday, June 18th with jurors all 15 of the cases presented as true bills.
Only two however were open to the public.
The first case from Friday's session concerns a man found naked inside of a home on the east side of Chillicothe, without permission.
Dakotah L. Weaver, 20, of Chillicothe, was indicted on single second-degree felony charge of burglary.
The alleged offense is reported to have taken place on May 1st of 2021 when Chillicothe Police Officers were called to a residence on Olive Street in reference to an unknown nude male that was found inside of a home by its female resident.
According to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office, the female resident reported to officers that she’d arrived home to find Mr. Weaver in her home without permission. The victim stated she found Mr. Weaver naked standing in her bedroom. The victim said Mr. Weaver had no permission to be inside her home. Upon questioning Mr. Weaver as to who he was, the victim stated he gathered his belongings and left the home through the back door.
Police soon found a clothed and visibly intoxicated Mr. Weaver at then nearby Strawser Park where he was taken into custody. Mr. Weaver told officers he had been given permission by the victim to be in the home.
The second open case from Friday's Jury session, involved a man who admitted to being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
Nathan R. Wolford, 28, of Chillicothe, was indicted on a single fourth-degree felony count of receiving stolen property.
The alleged offense took place on April 24th of 2021 when Chillicothe Police were called to the North Bridge Street Valero gas station in regard to a stolen vehicle.
On arrival at the scene, the victim informed officers that his 2004 black Honda Civic had been stolen while he was visiting a family member at a home on Ewing Street.
The vehicle was spotted at one of gas station’s pumps but was gone by the time officers arrived. They later found the vehicle unoccupied in the alleyway behind Rally’s.
A description of the person leaving the car in the alley was provided to officers, and they later found Mr. Wolford, who matched the description, walking down an alley behind East Second Street. Mr. Wolford is reported to have admitted taking the vehicle.
The next session of the Ross County Grand Jury is scheduled for Friday, July 9th.
