Chillicothe Purple Heart designation

Chillicothe is set to become a Purple Heart City. According to Chillicothe City Council President, Bruce Arnold, a special ceremony will take place during Monday’s session of Chillicothe City County, where the Purple Hear City declaration will be made. A Purple Heart City is named for the US Military’s oldest decorative medal, the Purple Heart. The designation is meant to honor and remember members of America’s armed services, who have either been wounded or killed in combat. The ceremony set to take place during Monday’s Council meeting will include the Ross County Honor Guard and a special presentation. Monday’s Council meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be live streamed on both the City accounts for Facebook and YouTube. The Purple Heart City designation will also be commemorated during a special ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, which is intended to allow for public participation, but a date and time for that has yet to be announced. The meeting is open to the public with restrictions and limited seating, but will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. Also at tonight's meeting, Council will consider appropriating more than $14,000 for the city’s share of the Law Enforcement Complex construction project. Other proposed legislation includes adjusting pay-scale for city pool lifeguards. The Human Resources committee will discuss that at 6:45.
