Police in Hillsboro are investigating a series of home and vehicle break-ins from early Thursday morning.
Officers were called to homes along East Main, East Walnut, Greystone Drive and Willow Street early this morning with residents reporting either, or both, their homes or vehicles broken into.
The items reported taken from residents were found by officers discarded along nearby road and alleyways.
The break-ins occurred between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
A suspicious male was caught on camera along Greystone Drive where some of the incidents took place and items were found.
An investigation is underway and anyone with information that may help authorities is encouraged to contact Hillsboro Police.

On August 05, 2021 at approximately 3:00 A.M. the Hillsboro Police Department received a call to respond to the 400 block of East Main Street. It was reported by the caller that a window to her residence was discovered open and a cell phone missing. Upon officers responding to the area, it was also found the caller’s vehicle had been entered and property removed.
Officers then responded to the area of Greystone Drive in reference to a suspicious male being observed on a security camera. While patrolling the surrounding residential area, officers located property in the middle of the roadway of Mary’s Lane. Officers made contact with the owner and took a report.
Later that morning at approximately 8:00 A.M. a call was received requesting officers respond to the area of East Walnut Street. It was reported that their home was entered through a window and multiple purses were missing. Upon officers checking, a majority of that property was discovered in the alley near the residence. In addition, another victim stated that she lived across the street. It was found that someone had attempted to enter her home and entered their vehicle. During the investigation on East Walnut Street, property was located belonging to a resident in the 100 block of East Main Street. Contact was made and it was found the items were removed from their vehicle.
Two more additional calls were made from the area of Greystone Drive and Willow Street stating that they had discovered their vehicles were entered and property missing.
The incident is under investigation and leads on possible subjects are being developed.
