Madison County Traffic Stop Nets State Troopers 11 Pounds of Cocaine

A Utah man is facing a felony drug charge as the result of a traffic stop in Madison County.

Troopers say they stopped a 2017 Toyota Camry along interstate 70 last Friday afternoon for a speed violation. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol canine alerted to the vehicle.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, Troopers located eleven pounds of cocaine stashed away in a hidden compartment behind the rear passenger seat.

The driver, Oscar Martinez-Gomez, 23, of West Valley, Utah has been charged with first degree felony possession of cocaine. He faces up to 11 years if convicted.
