Paint Valley 38, Adena 8

Paint Valley scored 32 unanswered points and went on to roll to a 38-to-8 win at Adena in the Herrnstein Hyundai SVC game of the week Friday night on 94-Country-WKKJ. Paint Valley scored the games first points when fullback Cordell Grubb scored on a 17 yard touchdown run to take a 6-to-nothing lead in the first quarter. Adena would rally behind the pass-catch combo of quarterback Andrew Vickers and wide-out Garett Britton to take the lead just over three minutes into the second quarter. The two hooked up on a 41 yard connection to get the Warriors within striking distance, then connected again on a 27 yard scoring pass to tie the game. Then Vickers hit Britton who carried the ball in for a two-point conversion, and Adena had the lead 8-to-6 with 8:39 left in the half. The game would change though roughly four minutes later. Adena had the ball near their own 20 yard line when a snap sailed over the head of the quarterback Vickers, who fell on the ball in the end zone for a safety, squaring the game at 8-apiece. Paint Valley took the free kick and four minutes later scored on a 3-yard run by quarterback Cavan Cooper to take a 15-to-8 lead. After taking the kickoff, Adena on the first play fumbled the ball back to Paint Valley. The Bearcats scored on their first play of the possession on a 32-yard "flea flicker" pass play with wide-out Trent Mettler taking a pass from Cooper, and then passing to a wide-open Dillon McDonald down the sideline for the score. Scoring 14-points in just 12 seconds, Paint Valley took the wind out of the Adena sails, and led 23-to-8 at the half. Two "chunk" scoring plays sealed the deal for Paint Valley in the 3rd quarter.....Grubb went in from 46-yards out, then four and half minutes later Cooper sprinted 79-yards for the night's final points. With the win, Paint Valley goes to 3-and-2 on the year, and 2-and-0 in the SVC, while Adena falls to 1-and-4 overall, and 1-and-1 in the SVC.
