Zane Trace celebrated homecoming in a big way Friday night, rolling past Westfall 49-to-12 in the "Hernnstein Hyundai" SVC Game of the Week on 94-Country-WKKJ. Pioneers quarterback Ben Nichols rushed for three first half scores, and the home team cashed in two Westfall turnovers for points on their way to the easy win. Nichols was named our McDonalds "Big Mac/Big Player" of the game for his efforts. All of Zane Trace's points came in the games first 24 minutes. Westfall, playing with roughly 25 players, tried to stay close, cutting the deficit to 14-to-6 in the first quarter. Quarterback Michael Harwood threw a short t-d pass to A.J. Shoults to get the Mustangs to within 8 points, but the Pioneers then scored 35 straight points to salt the game away. The second half was played under a running clock, with Zane Trace ahead by 30 or more points. With the win, the Pioneers move to 4-and-2 overall, and 2-and-1 in the Scioto Valley Conference. Westfall drops to 1-and-4 overall, and 1-and-2 in SVC play. Next week, Zane Trace plays at Unioto (the game on 94-Country-WKKJ), while Westfall returns home to host Adena.
