Chillicothe Purple Heart Committee Seeks Purple Heart Monument Donations

Plans to erect a monument honoring Chillicothe's recent designation as a Purple Heart City are currently underway.

The local committee behind the Purple Heart City designation is working to erect a monument at Veteran's Memorial Park, located at Park Street and Yoctangee Parkway, near the Chillicothe's downtown historical district. Veterans Park was established in 2004 in honor of Chillicothe-Ross County service members who have served in foreign wars.

The committee is turning to the community for donations to help with the cost of the monument. Those who'd like to donate to the monument effort should send their donation to the Ross County Veterans Council at 230 North Plaza Boulevard in Chillicothe by November 1st. Donors should note "Purple Heart" on the check. In person donations can be made at the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau, also located at 230 North Plaza Boulevard.

A commemoration event and reveal of the Purple Heart City monument is set to take place on Veterans Day, November 11th at Veterans Memorial Park.
