Paint Valley rolls past Unioto 46-19

Junior quarterback Cavan Cooper played a hand in six of the seven touchdowns Paint Valley scored Friday night, leading the home Bearcats to a 46-to-19 Scioto Valley Conference win over Unioto. It was our "Herrnstein Hyundai SVC Game of the Week" on 94-Country-WKKJ. Cooper, who entered the night second in the SVC in scoring, ran for three touchdowns, and passed for three others, as Paint Valley pulled away from a 21-to-12 halftime lead to put the Shermans away. Two of his touchdown strikes were of the "long distance" variety, as Cooper hit Dillon McDonald on scoring plays of 62 and 75 yards. For the game, the high powered Bearcats offense totaled 424 yards of offense, with 256 of that coming on the ground. A bright spot for Unioto was the play of freshman quarterback K.B. Perkins. Forced into the game when starter Newton Hoops was injured and did not return, Perkins threw for two touchdowns, and ran for another score, to lead Unioto. With the win, Paint Valley keeps it playoff hopes alive, and improves to 4-and-1 in the SVC, and 5-and-3 overall. Unioto falls to 2-and-3 in the SVC, and 2-and-6 on the season. Next week, our SVC game of the week will be at Zane Trace, as the Pioneers host Paint Valley, in a game that has numerous playoff implications for both teams. Our coverage starts at 6:40 this Friday night!
