50 Pounds of Magic Mushrooms Seized During Madison County Traffic Stop

A Louisiana woman faces more than a decade in prison after State Highway Patrol Troopers conducted a traffic stop in Madison County that yielded several pounds of hallucinogenic mushrooms and other drugs.

The traffic stop took place shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 17th along Interstate 70. Troopers stopped a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica with Minnesota plates for a speed violation and a drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the car revealed 50 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 20 pounds of marijuana and 3 pounds of psilocybin laced tablets worth approximately $153,000. The drugs were found in the vehicle’s rear cargo area.

The driver, 44-year-old Natalie Borchers, of New Orleans, faces charges of felony drug trafficking and possession.
