A Ross County man has apparently been scammed out of thousands of dollars by someone claiming to be associated with Publishers Clearing House. Harvey Long reported to Sheriff Deputies in recent months he has been in contact with a man identifying himself as John Anderson, who claimed to represent the company. Anderson told Long he had won a large sum of money as well as two vehicles in the sweepstakes drawing, and needed only to pay taxes and fees by way of money orders in order to get his prizes. Long says he has sent an estimated $40,000.00 to different locations in recent months at the direction of Anderson. Deputies were able verify that Publishers Clearing House does not notify prize winners in this manner. Long is attempting to get his money back through his bank.
