The Ohio Legislature is considering tougher rules on distracted driving in the state. House Bill 283 would make holding a cell phone or other electronic device a primary traffic offense. Currently using electronics while driving is a secondary offense, meaning drivers over 18 cannot be stopped by law enforcement unless they commit another violation. The bill was last addressed by the House Criminal Justice Committee on February 15th.
