"Archaeology Day" Returns This Saturday at the Ross County Heritage Center

Learn about digging up the past...or even looking into the ground without digging...this Saturday.

The Ross County Heritage Center will again host the annual "Archaeology Day." Local collectors and the Historical Society will show a wide variety of locally found prehistoric artifacts, geofacts, fossils, and minerals.

Admission is free and includes tours of the Ross County Historical Society’s permanent prehistoric cultures exhibit, and a display of the World Heritage nomination of the Hopewell Culture Ceremonial Earthworks.

Archaeologist JEB Bowen from the Clarke-May Museum in Circleville will be on hand to answer questions and to help identify items brought in by visitors.

If you have an interest in Ross County’s prehistoric past, be sure to attend the fifth annual Archaeology Day is hosted by the Ross County Historical Society in conjunction with the Mound City Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Ohio in the Historical Society’s Transportation Hall.
