Ross County Sheriff George Lavender has released the name of the man found dead after a Westfall Road standoff Thursday.
Negotiators talked with 72 year-old Lowell W. Earles for several hours before chemical agent was deployed into the garage where he was holed up with a shotgun. After law enforcement made entry, Earles was found inside. No law enforcement officers had deployed a firearm.
The US Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) had responded to an address in the 14000 block of Westfall Road in an attempt to serve a felony arrest warrant.
SOFAST officers had established a perimeter around the garage and attempted to talk the wanted person out of the garage while awaiting additional assistance. Deputies from the sheriff's office responded to the scene, along with the Ross-Fayette Joint Emergency Response Team and the Chillicothe Police Department SWAT.
