This month's show at the Pump House Center for the Arts is sponsored for a higher purpose.
Jim Butt's son was nicknamed "Beans," and has a very distinctive giant bean-shaped marker in Grandview Cemetery. Jim started a foundation for suicide prevention after his 17-year-old son died of it 16 years ago. He says his son loved art, so his foundation sponsors art when he can.
Jim says the foundation works with the ADAMH Suicide Prevention Board to speak to high school sophomores every year about suicide.
He says they try to reach all ages...and that hardest age to connect to is middle age.
