All-state honors were announced Tuesday in Divisions IV and V for the just completed high school football season. Unioto QB Newton Hoops was selected as first team in Division IV. Hoops passed for over 1800 yards, and tossed 24 touchdown passes, helping the Shermans to a playoff berth. Logan Elm's Blayton Reid was a first team choice on defense. In Division V, Zane Trace's Daniel Barnhart and Lane Stewart were named second team all-state, Barnhart on offense and Stewart on defense. Both were key performers for the Pioneers, who won the SVC title and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
