Florida authorities say six children are on their way back to Fairfield County after being taken by their non-custodial mother.
The Walton County (Florida) Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Ashley Holter was stopped and taken into custody Tuesday.
Child Protective Services had placed the kids in the care of their grandparents on December eighth. An arrest warrant was issued for Holter Saturday after she told CPS officials she had no plans to return her children to Ohio.
Walton County deputies found and stopped the couple’s minivan on a stretch of Interstate 10 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Inside, they found the six children ranging as young as an infant to nine years old. The sheriff’s office said the children were dirty and hadn’t been fed in days.
