Ross County Park District Seeking Grants, Director Still Helping

The Ross County Park District asked the Ross County Commissioners Monday for support in seeking two grants.

One is a state grant for developing a new park, Herron Downs, on the south side of their existing park, Kinnikinnick Fen.

Another is for $2.7M of federal money to help fix erosion on 11 miles of the Paint Creek Recreational Trail, which has been a major concern for users between Chillicothe and WCH. But if they get that grant, it won't be until 2026, and that is for only one part of the estimated $9M needed to fix the entire trail.

They are also looking for a new park director after Joe Letsche resigned Friday. But Erin Stanley, project manager for the Park District, says he is sill helping. His notice to leave is so far undated, as he is working on a new position in Cincinnati.
