The Public Warning System at the former Piketon Atomic Plant will be tested on Wednesday and Thursday, January 25th and 26th.
The tests will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on both days and will include the activation and sounding of the six exterior pole-mounted sirens that surround the Piketon site. The sounding of the sirens will include a message prior to their activation stating that it is only a test.
Audible testing of the Public Warning System is conducted to ensure the system functions as intended in the event of an actual emergency.
