The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle, single fatality crash.
The crash occurred on January 19, 2023 at approximately 5:35 a.m. on U.S. 68 near mile post 19 in Union Township, Clinton County.
A 2006 GMC pick-up, operated by Timmi L. Mahanes, 18, New Vienna, was traveling north on U.S. 68. A 2019 Volvo tractor-trailer combination, operated by Jeremiah D. Wingfield, 39, Marysville, was traveling south on U.S. 68. The preliminary investigation revealed the GMC traveled left of center, striking the Volvo head on.
Mahanes was pronounced deceased at the scene. Wingfield was not injured as a result of the crash. U.S. 68 was closed during the investigation and has since re-opened.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Fire Department, Clinton County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
