Ohio Attorney General Shuts Down Scammers Posing As Well-Known Charities

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is going after people accused of scamming charity donors in the state. Yost says the individuals behind eight organizations ripped off the names of reputable charities.

The sham groups include American Cancer Society of Ohio Incorporated, American Cancer Foundation of Ohio Incorporated, and United Way of Ohio Incorporated. The court document makes clear these groups are not at all affiliated with the well-known charities that have similar names.

The attorney general's office has tips on finding and contributing to reputable nonprofits available at charitable.ohioago.gov.
