The Pioneer Center of Ross County recently hosted a free screening, at Danbarry Cinemas in Chillicothe, of the movie "Champions" starring Woody Harrelson.
They say it is a funny and heartwarming story of a former minor league basketball coach who is assigned to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities for a Special Olympics basketball team. Nearly 275 people packed the theater.
The screening was part of a month-long celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Their next event is a "Sock Skating Party" 4 to 6 Tuesday at the Cavalier Skating Rink. Make reservations through twallace@rossdddot-org...and wear your silly socks and enjoy pizza.
