Triple fatal in Pike County

Three people are dead as the result of a two-vehicle accident late Monday afternoon in Pike County. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 5:00 yesterday afternoon at the intersection of State Route 32 and State Route 335 in Marion Township. A 2006 Ford Escape driven by 34-year-old Stephen D. Stapleton of Waverly went through a stop sign at the intersection, and was struck by a semi driven by 74-year-old Thomas Gannaway of Vinton. Steven Stapleton and the passengers in his vehicle, 34-year-old Krysta Stapleton and 73-year-old Stephen F. Stapleton, all suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Gannaway, the semi driver, was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
